Scrapping SSM / Evolve
May 27th
I’m going to be scrapping SSM, I took a look at Overv’s Evolve, and I don’t think I can beat his system. Instead, I will be developing plugins for Evolve.
Here are some of the things that I will be creating:
- Logging
- Teams based on permission level
- Prop Protection
- Tool Restriction
- Prop Restriction
I’m also still working on TCRP and I am planning a new FTS gamemode. So stay tuned!
Update!
May 26th
Here I go again, neglecting to update my blog…
Anyway, here are some more updates on my projects:
Garryspin: I’m going to be adding a streamed sound file, so that the swf loads faster, that will come soon. Other than that, nothing much to report. There was a slight jump in hits over the weekend, peaking at 300, but we’re back down to 50-75 again.
GP Project/DogTag: I haven’t been working on this very much lately, but I will start again soon. I found some compatability issues with Internet Explorer (There’s a surprise…
) that need to be fixed, but I just haven’t been bothered to do that very much lately.
SSM: I’m probably going to be on the lookout for people to help with SSM’s development. I haven’t had any time at all lately for SSM development, yet I really want to get SSM finished. If you happen to be proficient in GLua and want to help me out, by all means contact me at john@luamilkshake.com, you would be a great help!
TCRP: I don’t think I’ve mentioned this yet but TCRP is a GMod RP gamemode that focuses on the lighter side of RP, as opposed to the dark, crime-ridden theme of the average GMod RP gamemode. I will be writing more about this when it’s developments and planning have matured.
School: Still, fuck school!
So, that’s what’s up! See you next time!
Long time, no see!
May 21st
Sorry about not updating my blog for a while, I guess I could say I was kinda busy.
Here is updates on what’s going on:
Garryspin: Garryspin’s popularity has been for the most part the same (About 60 hits per day), although we had a bit of a jump on the 17th and 18th, where we got 170 hits on those two days.
GP Project/DogTag: Development has been coming along, the base system is functional, it just needs all the features. (If you don’t know what this is, unfortunately, I can’t tell you more that I have here. It’s confidential for now)
SSM: SSM has slowly been moving along, although it has lower priority than the other projects that will make me money. The whole base system is pretty much done, but the UI and modules still need development.
School: Fuck school!
Anyway, that’s all I’ve got for now. I’ll have to remember to update my blog more often. ^_^
Super Server Management (Part 1)
Jan 25th
Right now, I’m coding a project called “Super Server Management”. It’s a new administration mod for Garry’s Mod servers. (Yes, I know what you’re saying, “Ugh, ANOTHER ONE?!”, but read further…) SSM will be the first GMod Admin Mod to support MySQL-Based permissions and Ban storage by default. Obviously, that feature will be optional, because not too many single-server communities have the need for it, however even communities with two servers can benefit from it. It also will have a full UI-Based configuration, meaning that you will not have to ever edit stupid text files, or mess around with console commands. Everything is controlled through the UI! SSM will have a module system that will auto-load all of the files in the modules directory, nothing new, but, it will have plenty of documentation on how to create modules using the base SSM permissions and function system. SSM will come with a few stock modules as well, including player titles, a prop protection mod, chat-based commands, fun admin commands, and more. I’ll post more screenshots and more news as the project is developed. Stay tuned!
