Why I use Google Chrome
Jan 17th
I’ve used Mozilla Firefox, like most people, for a long time. Ever since I first had my own computer, actually. Though, once I found out about Google Chrome, it’s tab handling, tab isolation, I decided to check it out. This was when Chrome was still new, and it had some issues, so I went back to Firefox for a while. Then, I saw more and more people talking about Chrome, so I decided to give it another try. This time it was much more stable and nowhere near as buggy as it was before. I have been using Chrome ever since. There’s only a few things that I’d like to see placed into Chrome: the ablility to block ads, the extra features of right-click from firefox, and the ability to ad extra search engines (like wikis, etc.) Other than that, it’s a great browser. Today, I saw a post somewhere that talked about the Acid3 test. I had found out about this test a while ago, but forgot about it. Today I ran the Acid3 on the three browsers I have on my system.
Google Chrome (v 3.0.195.38, latest as of this posting) – Scored a 100% with some slight issues.
Mozilla Firefox (v 3.5.7, also the latest as of this posting) – Scored a 92%
Microsoft Internet Explorer (v 8.0.6001.18702, I think the latest, though I’m not sure because I never use it) – Scored a 20% (with a nice FAIL at the top left)
Microsoft Internet Explorer (v 8.0.6001.18702 with Compatibility mode, I know it’s for older sites, but I ran it anyway) – Scored a 13%
So in conclusion, Chrome seems to be the most updated and compatible browser. Although I did not test it, I have heard that Safari passes a full 100% with no errors, but Chrome uses the same engine as Safari so I would assume that they’re pretty similar. Way to go Apple!
Until next time,
